F. Dulin Kelly

F. DULIN KELLY was born January 16, 1946, in Gallatin, Tennessee, Sumner County. He completed his undergraduate work at Vanderbilt University and Cumberland College of Tennessee and then received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee in 1970. From 1972 to 1977, Mr. Kelly served as the Assistant District Attorney for Sumner County, Tennessee. F. Dulin Kelly has tried more than 100 jury trials including many medical negligence cases.

Mr. Kelly was admitted to the bar in 1971 and is currently admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee and the Fifth and Sixth Circuit United States Courts of Appeal. He served as editor of the Tennessee Trial Lawyer’s Magazine in 1994 and 1995 and has authored a number of articles published in Trial and in Voir Dire. Mr. Kelly was recently listed among the top 100 lawyers in the Nashville area by SuperLawyers. The publications can be seen here and here.

Memberships

Mr. Kelly was invited to become a member of the AMERICAN BOARD OF TRIAL ADVOCATES. Membership is by invitation only, and is made up of an equal number of plaintiff and defense attorneys who must have tried at least twenty jury cases to verdict. It is an organization whose purpose is to elevate the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession; to aid in further education and training of trial lawyers; to work for the preservation of our jury system and improve methods of procedure in our present trial court system; to advance the skill of its members as trial attorneys; to honor the members of the Association who have the requisite qualifications; to provide a forum for the expression of interests common to trial lawyers and to act as an agency through which trial lawyers in general and members of the Association in particular shall have a voice with which to speak concerning matters of common and general interest; to establish relations and cooperate with other legal organizations and associations for purposes of promoting efficient administration of justice and constant improvement of the law; and to enable trial lawyers as a group to have an active association of standing in the community and the nation through which they may learn and be heard.

Mr. Kelly was invited to become a Fellow of the INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF TRIAL LAWYERS, in which membership is by invitation only and is strictly limited to 500 active trial lawyers from the United States and 100 Fellows from more than 30 countries throughout the world. Members of the Academy are comprised of both plaintiff attorneys and defense attorneys. Its purpose is to cultivate the science of jurisprudence, promote reforms in the law, facilitate the administration of justice, elevate the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession, and cherish the spirit of brotherhood among the members.

Mr. Kelly was invited to become a member of the LITIGATION COUNCIL OF AMERICA, a trial lawyer honor society composed of less than 1/2 of 1% of American lawyers. The purpose of LCA is to recognize deserving, experienced and highly qualified lawyers, to provide an outlet for scholarly authorship of legal articles on trial litigation practice, to provide additional sources for professional development, to promote superior advocacy and ethical standards in the practice of law, to assist in community involvement by its membership, and to advance a superior judiciary by taking relevant positions on issues or legislation affecting judicial compensation and/or benefits, as well as those affecting the American litigation processes.

Mr. Kelly was invited to become a member of the AMERICAN TRIAL LAWYERS ASSOCIATION. Membership in ATLA is by invitation only and is extended to those individuals who exemplify superior qualifications, trial results and leadership in their respective states. The purpose of ATLA is to promote excellence in the legal profession through practical education programs, networking opportunities and legal publications that deal with current issues facing the American trial lawyer.

Mr. Kelly was selected as one of the BEST LAWYERS IN AMERICA, which is the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession.

Mr. Kelly was selected to become a member of SUPER LAWYERS, which is a listing of outstanding lawyers from more than seventy practice areas who have obtained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

Mr. Kelly is a member of the AMERICAN BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY ATTORNEYS (ABPLA), which is the only organization accredited by the American Bar Association to certify attorneys in the areas of medical malpractice and legal malpractice. Legal and medical malpractice lawyers who are so certified must meet and exceed rigorous standards set by ABPLA and are recognized as leaders in professional negligence law.

Mr. Kelly is also a member of the NATIONAL BOARD OF TRIAL ADVOCACY, whose purpose is to inform and educate the public concerning legal representation by Board-certified specialists and to recognize and promote excellence in legal advocacy through a national program certifying specialists predicated on high standards of demonstrated competence and integrity.

Mr. Kelly is also a member of the Tennessee Medical Malpractice Litigation Group, the Tennessee Association for Justice, the Tennessee Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Sumner County Bar Association.
